Simon Cowell Reunites With ‘BGT’ Mersey Girls Group’s Miracle Girl Dancer After Scoliosis Surgery

This week an emotional reunion happened for Simon Cowell while filming Britain’s Got Talent: Champions. Julia Carlile a part of the group named Mersey Girls returned to the stage of Britain’s Got Talent: Champions after she first appeared on BGT in 2017. The group MerseyGirls had planned to pay the prize money to pay for Julia’s scoliosis surgery. But when the group lost in BGT, Simon showing his generosity paid £175,000 for Julia’s surgery in the United States. If she had proceeded with the surgery in the UK, a steel rod would have been put in her back and kept her from dancing.

Simon Cowell Got Emotional On ‘BGT’ On The Return of MerseyGirls Julia Carlile

The 17-year-old Julia returned to the stage at Wembley Arena for Britain’s Got Talent: Champions and the judges were completely awestruck after watching her do backflips as a part of the group’s dance performance.

According to The Sun, Simon got very emotional seeing Julia’s return to the stage and at one moment Simon had even left the judging table to make himself composed. “All I want to talk about is one person’s strength and, beyond that, the friendship and support you all have, which we saw the first time we met you,” he said.

Although Simon’s reported reaction was not shown on the TV, he got very emotional after the group’s performance especially seeing Julia perform after her surgery. All the judges appreciated the MerseyGirls performance and Simon after a long pause and holding back tears said, “tonight… is everything.” The group then walked to the judge’s table and Julia hugged and thanked Simon saying “There’s nothing I can say just thank you!”

When the group performed for the first time on BGT, fellow Judge Alesha Dixon hit the Golden buzzer for the group. After seeing the MerseyGirls performance on Saturday, Alesha said that she would have hit the golden buzzer again if it was possible. She further said, “That just made my heart soar. Simon, I love you, I love what you’ve done for her.”

Julia, meanwhile, thanked and showed gratitude for Simon. “I thought that now I would be at home not dancing for the rest of my life but here I am back flipping with my best friends,” she said. “I couldn’t walk two years ago and now I am here. She further added thanking Simon for his help and generosity, “I don’t think I have ever been so happy as I am right now.”

Simon Cowell Show His Generous Side on ‘BGT’

Simon has been considered as a mean judge on a show like American Idol, but he is showing his generous and soft side in recent years. Julia is not the only artist that he’s helped.

Last year, he has helped a contestant in The X Factor UK named Scarlett Lee after her family home caught fire. He had sent toys for her brother’s kids and also provided other essential assistance.
